The Torah starts out with a few key messages which teach us the importance It (and I guess Hashem) levies on those ideas.
First lesson - ‘I’m the Boss. You shall have no Bosses before Me’.
At the get-go it’s crucial to establish the pecking order of the food chain. G-d id numero uno. The Big Boss. We need to know who we are and what our place is in the scheme of things. Also, we need to know to Whom to say thank you, and to Whom to turn when things aren’t going geshmack. Who do you ask for a raise? Who do you complain to about working conditions, etc.

Teshuva - it’s a most wonderous invention that is the escape route for every encounter gone wrong. Kayin did it and durn it
