Today, all the kids go back to school again for the first time since July.
YAY!!!!!!!!!
Today, all the kids go back to school again for the first time since July.
YAY!!!!!!!!!
Okay - here’s the story.
We’ve got the kitchen all unpacked, we’re just waiting for my office to be set up so that we can get all the wires and electronics out of the kitchen, and then we can decide what to do with the “eat -in” area.
The dining room is done.
The living room needs a ceiling fan.
The office is the worst - it needs two dry wall walls - a door - a new desk (ordered - coming on Monday) shelves and all the boxes unpacked and electronics set up.
The 3 big kids room has a new light fixture - a blue star with three (count ‘em - 3) light bulb thingys. We need to come up with a permanent closet/desk/hanging space solution in there- but for now it’s under control.
Leora’s room/guest room is set - just need a curtain to put on the curtain rod, the stuffed animals put up in the hammock (hammock is up already) and figure out what to do with the side of the closet that doesn’t have formica.
MDBR needs closets!!! And a ceiling fan.
Main Bathroom need hanging pole and shower curtain.
Porch needs pergola (ordered) and side closed in as a storage room.
Still need to bring in the fishtank. And we MUST go food shopping.
That’s the latest. Please tune in next time as our hero battles the evil forces of the decepticons.
So, this morning I missed Minyan.
Voluntarily.
I was busy talking to Yehoshua, and then to Shira.
It wasn’t just your regular Dad-Kid chat, but it had to do with violence.
See, ever since this ridiculous invention called summer break started, the kids have needed outlet after outlet.
We had camps, friends, grandparents, toys, activities, - you name it. everything short of a full fledged vacation up north.
But the kids still resorted to whining, kvetching, and hitting.
And then this morning - knives got added to the list.
No - not Jitsu knives, just plain old box cutters.
But they’re still drangerous.
So we talked about death and we talked about injury, and we even spoke about actions and responsibility and repercussions. (that’s when you get hit in the back of the head hard - again)
And then we chose our own punishments.
Shira now goes to her room on her own if she “forgets” and hits a sibling.
Yehoshua also goes to his room, but he might also lose the privilege of walking to school on his own - as that’s a privilege for only big boys.
Let’s hope this lesson works.
After a three week + hiatus out on Moshav Matityahu, we are finally safe and sound in our new home.
Pictures will be coming soon.
Once we get rid of all the boxes.
Today was the fifth time we have moved as a family.
Please G-d it will be the last time (at least for many many years)
It also was the worst move.
These guys were terrible.
They dropped my closet down the steps in the old house and then again down the steps in the new place.
Then, they decided the easiest way to get the piano through the front door would be to break a leg off.
I know some people are sensitive about this kind of topic, so I’d tread gently - but hey, the piano legs aren’t supposed to break off.
Somebody please call the circus - I think I’ve found the couple of clowns they’ve been missing…
